What is Battle of the Books?

Battle of the Books is a nationwide reading incentive program where students, who love to read, can compete. This optional program is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Interested students form teams of 3-5 players. Team members collectively read all eleven titles handed down by the Battle of the Books committee. Then, in game-show format, teams "battle" against each other, identifying the title of the book and the author of the clues given by the host. In tournament style, winning teams advance until we have an All-School winner. The Reeves Middle School winner earns the right to battle against the winning teams from Jefferson, Marshall, and Washington middle schools. The winning school captures the traveling trophy to take back to their school for the next year. Our RMS champion team was VERY competitive in the 2021 BOB Battle, taking 2nd place in the district! They were amazing! Kudos to Olivia, Max, Iris, Hazel, and Samara for a job well done!
