What is Battle of the Books?

Battle of the Books is a nationwide reading incentive program where students, who love to read, can compete. This optional program is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Interested students form teams of 3-5 players. Team members collectively read all eleven titles handed down by the Battle of the Books committee. Then, in game-show format, teams "battle" against each other, identifying the title of the book and the author of the clues given by the host. In tournament style, winning teams advance until we have an All-School winner. The Reeves Middle School winner earns the right to battle against the winning teams from Griffin, Jefferson, Marshall, and Washington middle schools. The winning school captures the traveling trophy to take back to their school for the next year.

Battle of the Books is currently underway!

Interested students can obtain a sign-up form from the library check-out desk.  January 14th is the first day the books can be checked out.  Upon completion of a book, students take a quiz on the book and record their score as proof they read their book.  When quizzes on all 11 titles have been passed, the team is qualified to compete.
