Principal’s Message

 November 2017

1. Just a reminder to our early birds that our school doors do not open until the start of our school day— 8:00 AM.  Please do not drop your child off early. We have some shivering students that are waiting outside until the doors are unlocked.   There is no direct supervision until the building is open.  The exceptions are for our jazz band and our choir groups that meet at 7:30 AM.  Students in these programs will be allowed in to report to their classes with their instructors.

2. School Calendar Alert.  Please note that Thursday, November 9 is a full day of school for all students. There is an error on the printed Olympia School District

2017-18 School Year calendar that shows November 9 as an Early Release/Half Day for Middle School students. This is an error, and all students in all grades have a full day of school on November 9, 2017.

3. Yearbooks are on sale for $28 until February 2ndAfter that?  They go up in price, so order now!  You can secure your Yearbook by going to and then follow the instructions.  Simply click on Order Your Yearbook Today at the top of the page and then type Reeves Middle School.  Students receive the ordered yearbook in June, 2018.

4. Please join us at our RMS Community Council meeting on Wednesday, November 29th from 6:00-7:30 pm in the Library!  Our RMS Community Council is a merging of our Site Council and Parent Connection (PTA) that serves all the students at Reeves Middle School.  This group needs more members to be the vibrant group that it is meant to be!

5.  Help us support your student by taking advantage of the FREE after school tutoring/ study hall for all students. This tutoring and homework club opportunity takes place every Tuesday and Thursday in the RMS library from 3:05 – 4:15 pm.  We have two high school tutors for all levels of math, and adult supervisors that can help in all subject areas.  The Activity Bus (also known as the “Brain Train”) is back in action this year and will take your student home each Tuesday & Thursday at 4:20 pm.

6. We want to make sure every student at RMS has access to basic needs, so ask us!  If you need assistance, please contact our school counselor.  We have the Principal’s Emergency Checkbook Fund to help cover a variety of needs; clothing, shoes, medical bills, school supplies, food, etc.  We are thankful to the OSDEF for providing funding for this annual resource to support our families in need.

7. ASB Fundraiser: You=Hero.  Our RMS Fundraiser is starting November 1st!  We are doing a straight donation this year instead of partnering with a company and selling items. This change came about from feedback we received from our families. The ASB Fundraiser makes it possible to continue to offer our student initiated after school clubs, officials and equipment for athletics, music program activities, and assemblies. This money goes directly to fund our RMS student programs. Our goal is to reach $10,000.

Just click on the "Donate Now" button at the bottom of our webpage or this link:  Thank you for your support!
