Principal's Message March 2018

A few RMS updates and reminders for March 2018

1. Thank you Voters for supporting the School Levy on February 13th!

2. Reeves Musical:

Reeves has partnered with Apple Tree Productions to produce "Alice in Wonderland."  Saturday, March 3rd, there are two performances of Alice in Wonderland.  The shows are at 1:00 pm and 6:30 pm.  Doors open 45 minutes before the start of each show with treats and flowers available for purchase in our cafeteria. All proceeds will go toward next year’s show.

To continue this opportunity next year, our PTA will be collecting donations to both performances on March 3rd.  We ask that you pay what you can at the door with $5 as a recommended donation for each guest.  This year, Reeves received a grant that allowed us to pay for the show with no payment needed by participants.  Next year’s show will only be possible through PTA efforts to raise the funds needed for this event.

3. Wednesday Opportunity Time has been added.

The staff at Reeves voted to add an additional OT after getting feedback from students that it would benefit them to have this 25-minute support opportunity five days each week.   This new Wednesday schedule went into effect on February 28th.

4. Road Work project in March:

The City of Olympia will be starting a Quince Street Project on March 12 that will last about 6 weeks.  The Project will replace the existing asphalt sidewalk on the east side of Quince Street with new sidewalk from the school entrance to Miller Avenue.  Paving the road is also part of the project. The city will target spring break (April 2-6) for the paving.  Please plan ahead for potential delays and explore alternative routes to reach the school when possible.

5. High School registration dates for RMS 8th graders:

~ OHS counselors will present the registration lesson/materials on 3/27 in SS classes at RMS.

~ OHS Welcome Night for 8th graders and parents will be 4/11, 6-8pm at OHS.

~ OHS Counselors return to collect registration materials on 4/16/18 via Chromebooks in

     8th grade social studies classes.
