About Our School
Patrick Murphy, Superintendent
Aaron Davis, Principal
Karen Zarate, Assistant Principal
Reeves Middle School serves more than 430 students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades, most of whom have come to us from Madison, Roosevelt and Boston Harbor Elementary Schools. We provide an educational setting designed to help our young adolescents make a successful transition from the dependence of childhood to the confidence and independence required of high school students. Along with the core academic requirements, we offer a 7th/8th grade robotics program, music program that consists of choir, band and orchestra, an advanced math program and electives. We also provide support classes for students who struggle in mathematics and/or reading. We offer after school tutoring Tuesday and Thursday with the assistance of High School National Honor Students as well as staff and other adult volunteers. We value all of our students’ growth by offering intervention and enrichment time during the school day during Opportunity Time. Our efforts reflect our school motto: If better is possible, then good is not enough.
The widespread use of technology and multimedia in our general and CTE classes exceeds the basic curricular and technology goals of the Olympia School District and the Washington State CCSS. There are audio enhancements and an interactive display system in each classroom.
The school is equipped with a 1-1 computer platform. Every student is issued a Chromebook and our building focuses on Digital Citizenship to educate our student about the proper use of technology both at home and at school. Reeves offers a balance of educating students academically, socially and behaviorally using differentiated instructional techniques to meet the needs of all learners.

Measures of Academic Progress (MAP)
MAP is a district assessment that measures a student's developing skills through a series of questions that adapt to the child’s level of learning. Research on MAP indicates the results are highly accurate. The results help teachers measure growth and determine whether a student may need more support or more challenge. These scores represent Spring assessment.
Due to pandemic-related school closures, 2019-20 MAP assessment data is not available.
